Much of Sarastoa’s arts and culture scene can be traced back to the influence of the Ringling Brothers, who owned the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the early 1900s. The circus was a travelling show that moved through Florida via a railway that ran through Sarasota County. The old railway has since been converted to the Legacy Trail.
