2022 has nearly come to an end, what new laws will take effect on Sunday, January 1 2023?

1. People using toll roads and hitting the threshold of 35 transactions or more per month will get a 50% discount.

2. In an effort to better control insurance claims, policyholders no longer have to sign claims over to contractors. 3. A child protection law also kicks in next week. All infants must be tested for cytomegalovirus (CMV) within three weeks of birth. CMV is the most common cause of infectious birth defects nationally.in an effort to better control claims, policyholders no longer have to sign claims over to contractors.

4. More people will be able to file their taxes electronically. The new law changes the payment threshold. It’s now lowered from $20,000 to $5,000 for filing electronically.

5. Miya’s Law: Lawmakers passed a measure that will require apartment landlords to conduct background checks on all employees.
