#1: Potential Healing Sands at Siesta Key Beach? Siesta Key Beach is continually rated as the top beach in the US, famous for its powder line white sand. However, a little less know is that Siesta Key Beach is made of 99% quartz crystal. Quartz is said to be a natural energy conductor and have healing properties! For this reason, countless meditations, yoga classes are held on the beach. And every Sunday evening, you can come check out the Siesta Key Drum Circle, a definite to do!
#2: Lido Key Casino…. In 1940, a casino was built on Lido Key by Ralph Twitchell. Mr. Twitchell still has a big architectural influence on the area. The casino is actually referenced in the 2016 Ben Affleck film “Live by By Night”. The casino was on two acres of land with beach access, shops, restaurants, a ballroom, and pool. No one is quite sure why the demise of the casino ensued but the city decided to demolish it without warning. Now where Lido Key Casino once stood is a public beach.

In 1886, John Gillespie brought golf to Florida due to his Scottish roots. According to golf history, it was also the second course in America as well. #4: Elvis is in the building! On February 21, 1956, a young man making a name for himself played multiple performances at the Edwards Theater for .76 cents. On the same Sarasota visit, Elvis ate at The Waffle Stop near downtown Sarasota. The Edwards Theater is now known as the Sarasota Opera House, and is still located at 61 North Pineapple Avenue in Sarasota.
