On the southwest end of Longboat Key, where the Longboat Key Club now sits, there was once a Ritz-Carlton in the making! John Ringling began building a Ritz Carlton in the 1920’s, but the Great Depression halted completion.
The structure was eventually torn down in 1964, with demolition taking nearly two months to complete.
